Chevy 5.0 305 Shortblock- LHD - 1970-1979

Description

The 305 was introduced to provide GM/Chevy with an engine that met the tightening fuel efficiency and emissions standards of the 1970s.

For over 30 years various iterations of the 305 were found in Chevy cars, trucks, and vans.

The 305 is considered the “little brother” to the Chevy 350, even using a crankshaft with the same casting number as the 350 but balanced for the engine’s lighter weight.

LG3

The LG3 was the first 305, introduced in 1976. From 1976-1978, it came equipped with a 2GC carburetor. In 1979, that carburetor was replaced with a two-barrel, dual-jet carburetor.

LG4

The LG4 was introduced in 1978. It was very similar to the LG3, except it includes a four-barrel carburetor and larger valves. It had a long production run, with later models boasting better efficiency, more power, and more reliability.
